Ben Sheers is an artist residing on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. His practice encompasses painting and sculpture as symbiotic art forms through which to explore a visual language of form, colour, and balance. His current sculptures serve as three-dimensional transpositions of his ongoing inquiry into space and shape.
Different materials, textures, and colours coalesce into poignantly poetic sculptures that engage in a dialogue of positive and negative space. His works seek to fully invoke the potential of their medium, guiding a nuanced exposition of the beauty inherent in unconventional materials such as mild steel, acrylic sheeting, and automotive paints.
These minimalistic sculptures invite the viewer to explore the interplay of forms, where the combination of shifting materials and colors alongside the sculptural use of negative space accentuates and defines each shape uniquely.
