Mark Stoner is a Melbourne-based sculptor whose work is held in esteemed collections, including the National Gallery of Australia, the National Gallery of Victoria, and various regional galleries. With a career spanning more than four decades, Mark has left an indelible mark on the field of public art, with large-scale installations featured prominently at sites such as Docklands, Geelong Foreshore, Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne, and Adelaide Airport.
For nearly 30 years, Mark shared his expertise in sculpture as a lecturer at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). Since 2010, he has been dedicated to his studio practice in Elwood, focusing on his artistic pursuits full-time. His recent work investigates the interplay of landforms and the elemental materials of the earth, such as soil, rock, and water. This exploration encompasses a wide spectrum, from the minute to the monumental, as Stoner seeks to reveal connections between seemingly disparate geological forms.
